CHLOROPHYLL FLUORESCENCE IN Brachiaria decumbens AND Brachiaria ruziziensis SUBMITTED TO HERBICIDES Planta Daninha
SILVEIRA,R.R.; SANTOS,M.V.; FERREIRA,E.A.; SANTOS,J.B.; SILVA,L.D..
ABSTRACT Different doses of herbicides can promote a differentiated physiological response in grasses of the same genus. This study has been proposed in order to evaluate physiological responses of B. ruziziensis and B. decumbens submitted to glyphosate and fluazifop-p-butyl. Treatments were distributed in a 2 x 6 factorial design with five repetitions, being two grasses: B. decumbens cv. Basilisk and B. ruziziensis with six doses of herbicides: 0.00; 0.25; 0.50; 1.00; 1.5 and 2.00 times the commercial dose recommended by manufacturers. At 7, 15, 21, and 30 days after herbicide application (DAA) chlorophyll luminous energy uptake efficiency was evaluated. Plants subjected to glyphosate at 7 days after application (DAA) showed minimum fluorescence of 270...

Economic Threshold Levels for Signal Grass Control in Sugarcane Cultivars Planta Daninha
TIRONI,S.P.; GALON,L.; SILVA,A.A.; BARBOSA,M.H.P.; SILVA,A.F.; FERREIRA,E.A..
ABSTRACT Weed management in sugarcane fields must be performed rationally, taking into consideration the competitive ability of cultivars and weeds, to allow for reductions in control costs and herbicide use. In this study, an evaluation was made of the interference of populations of Brachiaria brizantha in sugarcane cultivars, with the objective of estimating the economic threshold level of B. brizantha in competition with the cultivars RB72454, RB867515 and SP801816. For this purpose, an experiment was conducted under field conditions, where the cultivars coexisted with different weed densities. Considering the average values of the variables used for calculations, an economic threshold level was achieved with a population of 0.33, 0.46 and 0.66 plants...

FORAGE PLANTS AND WEEDS THAT ARE SENSITIVE TO ATMOSPHERIC CLOMAZONE RESIDUALS Planta Daninha
SILVA,M.M.; SANTOS,J.B.; FERREIRA,E.A.; BRITO,O.G.; DONATO,L.M.S.; SANTOS,M.V..
ABSTRACT The use of indicator plants can be an effective alternative in monitoring the presence of toxic molecules in the air, such as herbicides. Thus, in the goal of this study is to assess the sensitivity of forage plants and weeds to atmospheric residual concentrations of clomazone. The treatments were arranged in a 6x5 factorial scheme, with the first factor corresponding to the plant species triticale (Triticosecale rimpaui), maize (Zea mays), sorghum (Sorghum bicolor), palisade grass (Urochloa brizantha), purslane (Portulaca oleracea) and signal grass (Urochloa decumbens), and the second factor to doses of 0, 90, 180, 270 and 360 g ha-1 clomazone doses (equivalent to atmospheric concentrations of 0.0, 0.05, 0.10, 0.15 and 0, 20 mg L-1). Twelve days...

HERBICIDE SELECTIVITY TO SIGNAL GRASS AND CONGO GRASS Planta Daninha
ANÉSIO,A.H.C.; SANTOS,M.V.; SILVEIRA,R.R.; FERREIRA,E.A.; BRAZ,T.G.S.; TUFFI SANTOS,L.D.; SANTOS,J.B..
ABSTRACT This study was conducted in order to evaluate the selectivity of signal grass and congo grass, submitted to post-emergence herbicide application. The experiment was conducted under greenhouse conditions, in Diamantina, Minas Gerais state, and it was arranged in a randomized block design, with five replications. Treatments were set in factor scheme (8 x 2) + 2. Eight herbicides (nicosulfuron; clomazone; glyphosate; fluazifop-p-butyl + fomesafen; lactofen; fomesafen; fluazifop-p-butyl and mesotrione) were applied in doses recommended by the manufacturer on two fodder species: Brachiaria decumbens cv. Basilisk (signal grass) and Brachiaria ruziziensis (congo grass); in addition, there were two control samples without herbicide application, for a...

Physiological Characteristics of Trees Recommended for the Phytoremediation of Soils Contaminated with Herbicides Planta Daninha
AGUIAR,L.M.; SANTOS,J.B.; FERREIRA,E.A.; CABRAL,C.M.; PEREIRA,I.M.; BARROSO,G.M.; SANTOS,N.M.C..
ABSTRACT: Herbicides are inputs with a high volume of use in agricultural production systems for weed management; however, the environmental contamination they cause is a reality. The objective of this research was to evaluate the tolerance of tree species used for the phytoremediation of herbicides in the soil, to atrazine, clomazone and 2,4-D, through the evaluation of photosynthetic indices. Thus, a randomized block design experiment was conducted with four replications, in a 4 x 5 factorial arrangement, where the first factor represented the herbicides atrazine, clomazone and 2,4-D and the control treatment without herbicide (water). The second factor consisted in the use of pre-selected tree species for the phytoremediation of soils with residues of...

Phytosociology in Degraded and Renewed Pastures in Agrosilvopastoral Systems Planta Daninha
DIAS,R.C.; SANTOS,M.V.; FERREIRA,E.A.; BRAZ,T.G.S; FIGUEIREDO,L.V.; CRUZ,P.J.R.; SILVA,L.D..
ABSTRACT: In pastures, the incidence of weeds reduces the productivity and quality of forage. The identification of the weed species in pastures is fundamental to choose the renewal method. Thus, the objective of this work was to perform phytosociology before and after the renewal of a Brachiaria decumbens pasture, with the implantation of agrosilvopastoral systems. Eighteen different crop arrangements for pasture renewal were evaluated. The renewal systems were by eucalyptus integration (at 12 x 2 m or 12 x 3 m spacings) with maize, Brachiaria brizantha cv. Marandu (palisade grass) and/or Macrotyloma axillare (perennial horsegram), or monoculture and intercropping of palisade grass and perennial horsegram, as well as the evaluation of the application or...

STRUCTURAL EVALUATION OF DAMAGE CAUSED BY HERBICIDE CLOMAZONE IN LEAVES OF ARBORESCENT SPECIES NATIVE TO BRAZIL Planta Daninha
CABRAL,C.M.; SANTOS,J.B.; FERREIRA,E.A.; COSTA,S.S.D.; DALVI,V.C.; FRANCINO,D.M.T..
ABSTRACT Herbicide clomazone is highly soluble in water, which increases the risk of leaching, resulting in contamination of sources of groundwater and waterways, affecting non-target organisms, with possible degradation of riparian areas. The objective of this work was to investigate the possible anatomical modifications of the leaf tissue of twelve arborescent species native to Brazil grown in soil contaminated by clomazone, in order to microscopically characterize leaf damage caused by the herbicide, and investigate whether the structural damage precedes visible damage. Through micro morphometrics, the thickness and the area occupied by the tissues were measured in a cross section of the leaves of the forest species: adaxial and abaxial epidermis,...
